August 19, 2009 IHA Launches New Career Portal Web Site - Hospital Workforce Profiles NeededOn August 19, IHA launched its new Illinois Health Care Careers web site. Accessed via www.ilhealthcareers.org, the web site is a comprehensive resource for students, parents and educators to explore health care occupations as well as a showcase for each hospital’s efforts in workforce development. Approved by the Board of Trustees in 2008, the career portal web site has been developed under the direction of the Workforce Task Force and Post Acute Care Constituency Section Steering Committee. The web site will initially include post acute care and nursing occupations and will remain a "work-in-progress" as new information and health care occupations are added throughout 2010. Included in IHA’s Illinois Health Care Careers web site is information on health care careers, schools, financial aid, and more. Unlike other career portals, IHA’s web site will be distinguished by a "Hospital Workforce Profiles" section, a compilation of individual hospital workforce profile pages unique to each hospital. The profile pages will serve both as a resource for those interested in local health care careers, as well as an effective advocacy resource for hospitals as they interact with community members and legislators. IHA offers member hospitals the opportunity to display a profile in the "Hospital Profiles" section on a first-come, first-served basis.
