Hospital Uninsured Patient Discount Act - Submission of Worksheet C to Attorney General

Hospitals, as per Section 25(i) of the Hospital Uninsured Patient Discount Act, are required to file Worksheet C from its most recently filed Medicare Cost report with the Office of Attorney General. The first submission of Worksheet C is due by February 20, 2009, and annually thereafter within 30 days of filing its Medicare cost report with the hospital’s fiscal intermediary.

A copy of Worksheet C should be submitted by February 20, 2009 to:

David F. Buysse
Deputy Chief, Public Interest Division
Office of the Illinois Attorney General
100 W. Randolph, 12th Floor
Chicago, IL   60601

Worksheet C is the source to be used to calculate the ratio of cost to charge used in the discount calculation for eligible uninsured patients. The total of Worksheet C costs are divided by the total of Worksheet C charges to obtain the ratio.

A summary of the Hospital Uninsured Patient Discount Act can be found on the IHA web site (click here). The full text of the law can be seen at: Illinois General Assembly - Full Text of Public Act 095-0965
